A debate has taken place among the Republican elite as to whether or not Mitt Romney is a Conservative, Newt Gingrich is a Conservative, Rick Santorum is a Conservative, or if Ron Paul is a Conservative. It is hard to define somebody when their record is all over the place, but with Ron Paul it is easy to define whether or not he is a true conservative, or as some people keep saying in 2012...a Reagan Conservative.
Ron Paul is the definition of a Reagan Conservative because he has the record to back up his stances and beliefs.
If you don't believe me then take the words of Ronald Reagan as proof that Paul is the only true conservative in this race. In an interview that Reagan gave with Reason Magazine he defined Conservatism:
REASON: Governor Reagan, you have been quoted in the press as saying that you’re doing a lot of speaking now on behalf of the philosophy of conservatism and libertarianism. Is there a difference between the two?
REAGAN: If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals–if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. "The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is."
Now, I can’t say that I will agree with all the things that the present group who call themselves Libertarians in the sense of a party say, because I think that like in any political movement there are shades, and there are libertarians who are almost over at the point of wanting no government at all or anarchy. I believe there are legitimate government functions. There is a legitimate need in an orderly society for some government to maintain freedom or we will have tyranny by individuals. The strongest man on the block will run the neighborhood. We have government to insure that we don’t each one of us have to carry a club to defend ourselves. But again, I stand on my statement that I think that libertarianism and conservatism are travelling the same path.
Ron Paul fits this definition given my Reagan and the Republicans that have been brainwashed in recent years need to sit back and think of the words of their savior Ronald Reagan.
Libertarians and Conservatives are one in the same, but the only difference today is the wish of some conservatives who want to control your personal life (Rick Santorum) and that is not what was intended in this country when we fought a Revolution.
If you still don't believe me then you are probably to far gone to think for yourself and you will continue to be brainwashed by the Republican elite that wants to control your life as well.
The R3VOLUTION continues!!!

OK, if you mean based on what Reagan said. But Reagan was extremely far left on domestic social policy, so far in fact that his success in that area destroyed a critical pillar in Constitutional rule. I would describe Ron Paul as much better than Reagan based on what Reagan actually did.
